The 2011 national heritage open day events attracted a steady stream of visitors. many were from the locality but several came from places further afield such as Manchester, Bristol and even the USA! The demonstration lime kiln was fired up, guided walks were organised, the stable block and the canal wharf visitor centre were open much as in previous similar events. New attractions included viewing the brilliant model of the limeworks site. The model is located in the stable block. In addition the Museum on the Move bus was parked up. The most novel event was the magical light show in the Hoffman kiln presented by Freja Evans. All this activity and no admission charge!
